OOOHHH!!! I am so glad to have Uni back here today to watch over us!! Makes me feel a Lot better!! Boy I don’t know about you but this week seemed to go Sooo Slow for me!! I am certainly glad it is Friday! I am going to be taking it a little bit easy over the week-end…well, a little bit easier on the computer I should say, it’s my birthday this week-end so I am going to all out celebrate all week-end!! Why not? It only happens once a year!! And it just so happens it is Queen’s Day on Monday and this is the year that everyone gets off so everyone else will be partying too!! So without further ado lets get on with Friday’s post…shall we???

It seems that there is this attorney in Dallas and there had been a complaint made by a neighbor against his donkey, “Buddy”! It seems as though “Buddy” was very noisy what with all of his braying all of the time and there was also a complaint about the many manure piles!!

So what does the attorney do? He decides that it was a good idea to bring “Buddy” to court with him so that “Buddy” could testify in his own defense!!

“Buddy”, by the way, appeared in court and when he walked up to the bench and stared at the jury, he was the picture of a gentle, well-mannered creature and not the loud, aggressive animal he had been accused of being!

The jurors, did not need to render a decision though, as the neighbors settled their dispute while the jurors deliberated!!!

And in my neighboring Germany:

An early-morning German bank customer had a bit of a shock when he found a horse already in line at the automatic teller machine in front of him!

It seems that “Sammy’s”, (the horse), owner had a bit too much to drink the night before and on his way home decided to sleep it off inside the banks foyer!

When he found out that there was no “hitching post” he brought “Sammy” inside with him and when the bank customer came in he found “Sammy” just standing in front of the A.T.M. The bank customer called the Police, and when them came they woke the owner and sent him and “Sammy” on their way, no charges were filed!!

It was said though, that some clean up was needed as “Sammy” seems to have left a “little deposit” of his own on the carpet!!

and last but not least…Also in Germany!!!

A pregnant cow that had escaped from her farm became increasingly afraid and violent as she was running through the town of Hanover.

She was being pursued by the farmer, television camera crews and 30 police and firefighters! She was destroying cars, benches, garden fences and whatever else got in her way during the 5-kilometer chase, causing €25,000, ($33,900), in damage in just 3 hours before she was brought down by tranquilizing darts, without bringing harm to her calf.

A spokesperson for the Fire Department said: “She probably won’t remember any of it when she wakes up again. But the farmer will, because he’s going to have to pay damages of about €25,000″!

Well, I just don’t get it!! My WordPress is acting up Yet Again Today and I can not get Uni on!! Now you all know how uncomfortable this makes me feel, not having Uni overlooking over these proceedings, but I guess we have no other choice!! Maybe he is sleeping in today, if so, and if he gets up later and feels like it, maybe I will be able to talk him into making an appearance!!

The story goes on to say that it is just the right size, may have water in liquid form and it’s close by, only 120 trillion miles away!!

Now I don’t know about you but that sounds like one heck of a commute to me, how about to you?? I can’t imagine us just popping home for the week-end to see the parents and friends! And I think that family dinners are a definite no no!! Which might not be such a bad thing for some people! And you might as well forget about “going home for the holidays”, I mean how in the world would you book a flight? Where would you book a flight? & what would you fly on?? The closest meteor flying by that is headed towards Earths atmosphere, or grab hold of the tail of a comet as it speeds by?? (did you know those were made of ice)???

Say you could book a flight, for the sake of argument, well if you wanted to, “fly home for the holidays”, wouldn’t you have to start 90 or 100 years in advance??? If you booked a flight the day that you were born, the chances of you getting “home for the holidays” before you die would be looking pretty slim, wouldn’t it????

And can you imagine the Phone Bill????? Ay yi yi yi yi!!!!! I already pay a Fortune each month on my phone bill calling my Daddy, and he only lives 11,000 km away from me!! So when he or I get on a plane to see each other we only fly 10-11 hours, if it is non-stop! If we have to make a stop then you are definitely talking about the better part of an entire day! That already feels like forever, can you imagine 90 or 100 years? That really would be “Forever” for most of us!!!

So if you had to travel 90 or 100 years or more just think how far the phone call would have to go and how expensive even 1 second would be, if you could get a line out at all!!! And the Telephone Wires!!!!!! Now that is a Lot of wire just to reach one phone, not even on the other side of the World!!!! Try the other side of the Universe…Another Universe!!!!!! I wonder, if you could make a phone call that far, how long would it take for your voice to reach the other person?? Would it reach them almost immediately or maybe it would be days, weeks, years!! before they heard you just say “Hello” for your one second phone call!!!

I don’t know about all of this!! I am going to have to give this a good, long think!!! I am just not sure about “Space Travel” and living in different “Worlds”…but then again, all of my friends are always telling me that I already live in a Different World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Again!

I was reading an article yesterday about the legal loophole that gives mentally ill individuals access to guns and I absolutely could not believe it!

In this case they were speaking of the Virginia Tech “Shooter” and that due to his mental illness in 2005 that ruling alone should have disqualified him from buying a handgun under Federal Law, but it didn’t!

After the shootings, questions have been raised about the efficacy of instant background checks for firearms purchases by the mentally ill.

Under federal law, anyone who has been judged to be a danger to himself or others because of mental illness, should be prohibited from buying a gun. As in the case of this man. His status should have been put into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is a database for people that are disqualified from buying guns. But…in this case his mental status was never entered into the system!

Why? You may ask, well the answer just may surprise you!

The Federal Government relies on the State Government to provide information and each state has it’s own separate laws about disqualifying people due to mental capacity, (incapacity).

In Virginia, for instance the law disqualifies a person from buying firearms only if they have been involuntarily committed to a mental hospital. And even though this man was ordered by a judge to undergo outpatient treatment, he was never actually committed to a mental hospital! Thus Virginia never reported him and he was never “flagged” at a background check!

So his appearance before the judge and his evaluation at a mental health facility did not show up when he bought the guns.

It is not known yet if the federal law would have been enough to be an absolute dis qualifier, but if it was, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway because obviously the Federal Government still would not have known about this mans evaluation & previous treatment!

Ironically, although Virginia law created a loophole, Virginia is actually one of the best performing states when it comes to entering mental status of persons into the background check system.

There are 21 other states, that put any mental-status entries into the federal database. The remaining states cite costs and privacy concerns as reasons they don’t!

There is also the possibility that had this man been put on the database he might still have sidestepped the law if he had bought a firearm at a gun show, (I don’t understand why they don’t have to go through a background check at a gun show!), or a private seller.

Unfortunately, those types of transactions account for about half of the guns sold in the United States each year.

There was also a question about his being able to buy a gun due to his resident status, but it is legal for a resident alien to purchase a firearm, as long as they present three forms of identification: a driver’s license, a checkbook with an address matching the driver’s license, and a resident alien card. This particular man had been living in the United States since he was 8 years old.

I might get into deep water with this next statement but…I don’t see what buying a firearm and being a legal resident alien has to do with one another. If the person is in the United States legally then buying a firearm legally in my eyes should not be a problem. After all…it could have just as easily been a full blooded American purchasing the firearms in order to commit this tragic crime, Mentally Ill is Mentally Ill whether you be American, Korean, or any other nationality! Mental Illness does not see nationalities, only brains!

To me the problem here is in the law/laws! And in this case the law/laws about mentally unfit individuals being able to legally purchase firearms! When in the world is the Federal Government and the State Governments going to get together on this issue and many other issues as well, so that the left hand knows what the right hand is doing? A “Meeting of the Minds” between the different governments could possibly have prevented this tragic story & so many like it, from unfolding!

The Virginia Attorney General, on being ask about the differences between the state and federal law, stated that the state law may need to be changed to meet federal requirements. It seems to me that it is a little late for that now, but as they say, “better late than never” I guess!

Hi Again!

I was reading an article today about asking someone out on a date, and while I have not ask that many men out on a date myself, (I tend to be a little old fashioned, the men usually ask me out), I have done it, (ask a man out)!! And I never thought about it before but the article mentioned how people get all clammy and fidgety and mumble and fumble and I was amazed! I finally figured out that it must be because they are afraid of being rejected! Actually I didn’t figure it out, I just read the article a little farther!

I have to say, on those few times that I did ask a man out, I was not clammy, fidgety, mumbly or fumbly, I never had any doubts about what the answer was going to be, and thinking about it now, if I had any doubts what so ever, I never would have done it either!

And I started thinking, isn’t it amazing how each and every one of us are so totally different but yet in many way exactly the same??

We all have come into the world the same way, I am not speaking of the actual individual birth, but we all got there the same way, (that is a whole ‘nother post, and probably doesn’t belong on Uni’s site, he tends to get upset at mention of certain things, you know how Uni’s like purity)!!, but we were created the same way, we all bleed the same way, and contrary to what people may think, it all comes out red, even if you are blue blooded!, we all breath the same air and the same way, some air being more clearer & cleaner than others, but if you were where clean air was you would be breathing the same air!, we all experience the exact same feelings, rejection, love, hate, dislike, trust, safety, pleasure, pain each and every one of us feel, maybe not the same way, but feel it just the same!, we all have to eat, sleep, drink, communicate with each other and the list goes on!

And yet our inner “feelings” seem to be the one that causes us the most pain and pleasure! It makes me wonder about cruelty and the cruelty that we inflict on others! Why do we find that it is necessary to inflict unnecessary pain on others?

Especially when that is probably the “feeling” that we fear so much, pain! Why do we find it necessary to physically hurt another, or why is it necessary to say hurtful things to each other?

Think about the last time that you said something hurtful to someone, I don’t mean accidentally hurt someone, but said something to someone knowing that it would cause them pain. Now think about what you said, and think about how you would feel if that person, or someone else for that matter, said the same thing to you. Would what you said hurt your feelings? If it wouldn’t hurt your feelings then you are done, nothing more to the experiment, but if it would hurt your feelings, then Why? and more importantly Why did you say it? Why in the World would you say something to anyone, and especially a loved one, that would be hurtful and make them feel bad and maybe not just feel bad for the moment, maybe make them feel bad for the rest of their lives???

Is it the power it gives you? Is it because you were angry and lashed out at someone, maybe not even the person you were angry with! If you said it out of anger, then after you cooled off did it make you feel good that you said it or are you sorry you said it? If you are sorry you said it, Now you have made 2 people feel bad, not just the one!! How smart is that? Now you have made yourself feel bad also!!! Was it worth it? Was it really worth acting like a spoiled brat just because you were angry?

Do you realize that stupid things said in the heat of anger, or maybe you are just an evil person, can ruin relationships for the rest of your life? Think about it! Is it really worth loosing your life partner or best friend, parents, children, your job or any thing else that you value just for some stupid thing that you said in an instant and didn’t get that much gratification out of anyway, especially if you are sorry now?

So why not from now on for your sake and the sake of others, try stopping and think about what you are going to say before you say something that in the long run you are going to regret and be hurt over as well as others? And for goodness sake, if someone that you don’t want to go out with asks you out, decline in a pleasant and positive fashion that behooves you, after all, it should really be a very high compliment that someone wants the honor of sharing your company!

After all, if they didn’t want to go out with you then how much fun could it have been? There are always many more just waiting for a chance to spend a little time with you!

Before I start the week out I would like to tell you a little about the 2 new blogs that I have added to the good old “Blog Roll”!! One, I have been watching for a while now is called RoboBlogger, and RoboBlogger says that “It’s” “job is to sort through thousands of stories each day and put them in their proper category. I edit the Life News pages on Topix when no humans are available to help”! And “It” is right! On the front page there are always 100 of the newest stories so you can go back often and be assured that you never see the same old boring stories! The other new addition is Web Worker Daily, and her subtitle is: “Rebooting the Workforce”! An interesting blog which just happens to have the top story at the moment about Google Apps and the release of a new PowerPoint-type presentation application in the future! So if you get a few minutes you might want to drop by and see just what I see so interesting!!

That said! Yesterday, for any of you on this planet that do not know, was Earth Day, which we have been celebrating around the World for many years now. I hope that all of you did your part in protecting our “Mother Earth” yesterday and did just one simple little thing to let “Her” know that you love her. I also hope that you do not let it go at that, I truly hope that everyone does just one tiny, simple little thing Every Day to protect our “Mother Earth”, because after all, “She” is the only one that we have got!

SPECIAL EARTH DAY POST TODAY EVERYONE!

The story goes that Earth Day was conceived by Senator Gaylord Nelson after a trip he took to Santa Barbara right after that horrific oil spill off of the California coast in 1969. He was so outraged by what he saw that he went back to Washington and passed a bill designating April 22 as a national day to celebrate the earth.

Earth Day proved extremely popular in the United States and around the world. The first Earth Day, in 1970, had participants and celebrants in two thousand colleges and universities, roughly ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the United States. More importantly, it “brought 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform.

Please do something especially nice for The Earth today, just pick up one piece of trash off of the ground where you will be picnicking, or one drink container laying there on the sand if you are spending the day at the beach, just some little simple thing that lets “HER” Know that you Love and Appreciate “HER”!! Uni & I are back again today!!! I can’t believe that we are actually still connected to the Internet and that I am here 2 days in a row!! Since my life was pretty much in the toilet for 4 whole days without Internet, I thought that I would share some facts about Toilets with you today!!!!

Did you know that a company came out with a toilet night-light that sends out a green warning beacon when the seat is up? Or that the average roll of toilet paper lasts about five days in the bathroom, (NOT IN MY BATHROOM, not that I Overly Use my bathroom, mind you, but the rolls just don’t seem to be that big to me)!!

In France, before toilet paper was invented, French royalty wiped their bottoms with fine linen!

The Chinese were the first to produce toilet paper for use by its Emperors!

The first toilet was installed in the White House in 1825!

Scott Paper produced the first roll of toilet paper!

In a survey it was found that men prefer to fold their toilet paper, and women like to wad it!!

In a year, an average person uses the toilet 2500 times!!

On a ship a toilet is called a head!

Most toilets flush in E flat!!!

AND…

Five billion gallons of water are flushed down toilets in the United States every day!

Now my big question is, how do they know all of this stuff? I wonder what your job description would be for collecting all of this information? “Toilet Information Collector”? I’ve never seen this job advertised in the “Help Wanted Ads”!! It could be an interesting job, I suppose!! I guess the ad for it would go something like this:

“Toilet Information Collector Wanted, must have experience with toilets and like to get down into the sewers and wallow, a Lot”!!!!

Hi All!

Remember me? I won’t be surprised if you don’t, I have been away for so long! I have had a Horrible week! Remember how I was playing around with all of you on Friday about it being Friday the 13th and unlucky? Well, let me tell you…My Friday the 13th was OK, good in fact! And Saturday was good also, I was able to get away from this computer for a few hours on Saturday night and have some much needed fun! You know all of that about all work and no play! Well, I came back very happy Sunday morning and ready to make up time that I had lost while I was away playing when DISASTER HIT!!! After a couple of hours of working, my Internet went down, and has been down, except for a few minutes a couple of times, since then!!

Let me tell you, I almost checked myself into the hospital for Internet Withdrawals!! It is a Very Hard thing to go through Cold Turkey!! I have been going completely out of my mind just thinking of everything that I should be doing and everything that I have been missing! It has not been a pretty site!! I should have been able to enjoy my time off but in fact it has been worse…much worse!!!

Now that wasn’t bad enough!!! On Monday I was watching the news and see on television about the shootings at VA Tech. One of my very best friends works there!!!! And I have been unable to reach him!!!!! I do not know if he is alive or dead!!! But now that I have my Internet back, for however long it may be, I have written to him, hoping that I can reach him that way!!!!!

I am Worried Sick about you & your family, Cowboy!!! You have been in my prayers night and day!! I know that you read JabberWocky!, so just in case you haven’t received my email/emails, I am trying to get in contact with you!! Write to me at any of my addresses and I will receive it, I will be checking all of them, often, waiting to hear something, AND IT BETTER BE GOOD!!!

That hasn’t been bad enough! But now, on Saturday night while I was out, I twisted left ankle! That I am barely able to walk on!! Don’t ask how it got that way, lets just say that it wasn’t by any normal way!!!!

There are a few more problems also but I think I will stop there while I am ahead!!

So I have this theory!!! I think that I have been punished for making fun of Friday the 13th, in fact, I still am being punished!! I think that nothing bad happened to me on Friday and even Saturday to lull me into a false sense of security! I think that I was allowed to think that I had made it through yet another Friday the 13th unscathed! While all along, all of this trouble was brewing to get me back for how flippant I was about Friday the 13th!!

And I hereby vow not to make as much fun on the next Friday the 13th as I did this past one as I have learned my lesson, (I hope)!

NOW!! To the “Gods” that watch over All Friday the 13th’s, AM I FORGIVEN NOW??????

I certainly hope so!! And I certainly hope that I will see you back here tomorrow, that nothing happens to the Internet again, or me for that matter!!

HERE, WHEN I CALLED THE COMPANY AT 9:00 IN THE MORNING WHEN THEY OPENED THEY TOLD ME THAT ONE OF THE LITTLE HOUSES AROUND HERE THAT HOUSE INTERNET STUFF, (WHATEVER THAT MAY BE)!! WENT DOWN AND THAT PROBABLY NO ONE WOULD BE WORKING ON IT UNTIL MONDAY MORNING!! THEY DO NOT WORK THE WEEK-ENDS AND ESPECIALLY NOT SUNDAYS!!

INTERNET DID COME ON A LITTLE LATER, SOMEWHERE AROUND NOON AND I WAS ABLE TO READ A COUPLE OF EMAILS, BUT WHILE I WAS REPLYING TO THE FIRST ONE, AND GOT READY TO SEND IT, THE INTERNET HAD GONE OUT AGAIN, I TRIED UP UNTIL ABOUT 8:30 LAST NIGHT AND THEN GAVE UP!

WHEN I GOT UP AROUND 1:00 A.M. THIS MORNING I SAW 2 GREEN LIGHTS ON THE INTERNET BOX, I WAS HOPING IT WAS OK, (AT LEAST FOR A FEW MINUTES), BECAUSE NORMALLY I AM SUPPOSE TO HAVE 5 BUT IT NEVER HURTS TO TRY!!!!

ANYWAY, GOT ON THE COMPUTER AND KEPT EVERYTHING DOWN, (IN HOPES OF NOT PUTTING ANY UNECESSARY STRAIN ON THE INTERNET CONNECTION), EXCEPT TRIED TO GET JUST ONE BROWSER CONNECTION, TO GET AT LEAST ONE EMAIL OUT TO SOMEONE I KNEW WOULD BE WORRIED AND HOPEFULLY IF ANYONE WOULD CONTACT HIM ASKING WHERE I WAS HE COULD TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND NOT TO WORRY!

OBVIOUSLY THAT DID NOT HAPPEN!! COULD STILL NOT GET A CONNECTION!!

SO I AM WRITING THIS AT 4:30 IN THE MORNING, HOPING THAT WHEN EVERYTHING OPENS UP HERE AT AROUND 9:00 THIS MORNING THAT SOME PEOPLE WILL WORK ON THE “INTERNET HOUSE” AND GET IT UP AND RUNNING AT LEAST LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO COPY, PASTE & POST THIS, NOTICE I WILL NOT ADD ANY FRILLS!!!

IF YOU ARE READING THIS, THEN OBVIOUSLY THAT HAS HAPPENED!! I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG I WILL STAY CONNECTED SO IF ANY FAMILY & FRIENDS ARE READING THIS, PLEASE PASS ON THE INFORMAITON AND I WILL BE IN CONTACT A.S.A.P.!!

BY THE WAY, I COULD NOT GET MY HANDS ON ANOTHER COMPUTER THAT WORKED YESTERDAY BECAUSE ALL OF THE COMPUTERS AROUND HERE WERE DOWN ALSO, BECAUSE THEY USE THE SAME “HOUSE” THAT I DO!! BELIEVE ME, I TRIED!!

I AM TRULY SORRY FOR ANY WORRY THAT I HAVE CAUSED!! I WILL TRY TO BE IN CONTACT WITH ALL OF YOU AFTER POSTING THIS, JUST KNOW IF YOU DO NOT HEAR FROM ME YOU WILL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
