I recently downloaded and installed the new improved WordPress 2.7 and in 3 little words:
I Love It!
The Dashboard is to die for, everything is handy where it is easily accessible with a choice of grey or blue skin.
I like the fact that now you can make a quick post if you’re running short on time and don’t want to go all the way to the normal editor and that you have the freedom to customize the dashboard any way that suits your needs.
All of the modules have the drag and drop option so you can move the modules around any way that suits you and some also have an open and close option so that you can see everything on offer or collapse them up for a cleaner more minimal look.
You can change the settings from the main dashboard and display what is important to you or hide them if they’re not important to you at the time.
You can adjust the size of your editor, there are also keyboard shortcuts for comments moderation and if you double click on a comment in the Comments view it opens up in the editor.
From the dashboard you can see if you have any drafts that you’ve made and maybe forgotten, any incoming links, all of your posts from this week, last week and a while ago and what’s hot on WordPress.
Having said all of this with all of it’s great new features I do have One Tiny complaint. (Well, not so tiny to me)!!
If you have a blog that is hosted by WordPress.com then on your dashboard already included in the 2.7 is all of your stats from all of your blogs but not if you are hosting your own blog, and this was so important to me…in fact it was one of the main reasons that I upgraded from 2.6. To be able to see my stats when I logged in and see who was reading what.
For those of you that know me know I am definitely no computer genius and I have a way of always messing things up on my computer so I only upgrade when it is really something that I want terribly!
I knew about the stats because I have another blog hosted by WordPress and of course the day the upgrade came out I was using it on that blog but it seems that no matter how hard I tried I can not get the stats plugin here on JabberWocky! to work.
So to WordPress 2.7, I give it an 8…would have definitely been a 10 if I had been able to get the stats plugin to work!
By the way…if anyone out there knows possibly what I’m doing wrong or does know how to get the stats plugin to work then please leave me a comment and tell me…I would truly appreciate it!
Well, that’s it for me today and this week, I hope you have a great week-end and hope to see you back here again soon for some more…
