“There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

“The most popular theory states that the universe grew from the size of a marble to a volume larger than all of observable space in less than a trillion- trillionth of a second.”

While the entire site is interesting I especially enjoyed the abstract portraits of people created by Giuseppe Arcimboldo, (1527-1593, Milan), he was definitely way ahead of his time!

Since the television and film writers have gone on strike against the studios and production companies, the late-night talk shows, daytime soaps, and prime-time dramas will still need fresh material for the coming months.

But what if the strike doesn’t end soon and they don’t get the new material needed? Will TV end? Be no more? Finito? Gone bye-bye? Out the window? Would life as the couch potato knows it end?

Well CNN.com asked readers what they would do in a world without television and got some very interesting responses.

Surprisingly many said they wouldn’t mind not having television and would actually benefit without it and in fact, as it turns out, many have given up TV years ago!

Here are some of the responses, (in a shorter edited form):

This could be the best thing to ever happen to America! It’s a great opportunity to fix two of our largest social problems. First: Read a book and second perform some outdoor activities and lose the weight we have collected while sitting on the couch watching TV.

Fill the time with better conversations, reading, and fitness. The most important of those would be conversation; most people let TV fill the time when we should be talking to our family.

Read a lot and volunteer for Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. Enjoy window shopping just to see what there is to see and while doing that you can loose weight.

Read, exercise, and do things that generally require human contact. It may be a great time for people to reflect upon the fact that TV has become a crutch that allows people to procrastinate and disengage from daily life.

Spend time outdoors, cook, enjoy being around friends, read books, run, bike, and kayak. More importantly, what do I not do? I don’t discuss commercials and TV shows with co-workers. I don’t obsess over being home at a certain time to watch someone’s fake life. I don’t spend hours a day in a climate-controlled environment sitting in one place.

We actually choose not to have television just because of all the violence and sexuality on it. My husband, myself and my son are all big readers. We are also very close. We share our day and stay connected in each others lives. We pretty much eat dinner together every night. I personally would like to see America have a National “Turn off your TV Week” so that families could get to know each other.

Not everyone that responded said that they would do well without TV, in fact some said they “will be lost without my shows!!” If you would like to see more interesting responses to this question go to:

Life Without TV

That’s all for me today! I’m off to find something to do, like, cook, walk the dog, take out the trash, “bond” with my neighbor or I just might read more of those responses and get some more ideas! I hope to see you back again tomorrow for some more…

Hi Again!

Are any of you old enough to remember “The Andy Griffith Show” from the 1960’s? Well, maybe I should ask if any of you are old enough to remember the 1960’s?? If not, then maybe you are old enough to remember the reruns!!

This show was about a very lovable and oh so wise Sheriff of a small southern town named Andy Taylor, played by actor Andy Griffith.

Now back to 2007!! It seems that there is this man that changed his name last year to Andrew Jackson Griffith! (The name of the actor). And if that isn’t bad enough he decided to run for Sheriff in a town in Wisconsin! (I wonder if he decided to run for Sheriff Before or After he changed his name)?

It seems that while the “New” Andy Griffith was running for Sheriff that he was comparing himself to the television character who dispensed heartfelt wisdom. He even denounced some law enforcement practices such as speed traps, he declared: “They never did unethical stuff like that in Mayberry!”

Well the “Original” Andy Griffith got wind of it and was none to happy! So he decided to sue the “New” Andy Griffith!

It seems as though the “Original” Andy Griffith owns Mayberry Enterprises, which controls the intellectual property rights to his name and characters!

The verdict has now come in and the “Original” Andy Griffith has lost his case!

The Judge said the candidate did not violate federal trademark law because he did not use the name in a commercial transaction but instead “to seek elective office, Fundamental First Amendment Protected Speech.”! he also said he doubted the actor had suffered any damage to his reputation or income loss from the ordeal.

So as it turns out the “Original” Andy Griffith gets nothing from the “New” Andy Griffith who is of course very happy because he has few resources to defend himself!

Now I don’t know about the not harming the “Original” Andy Griffith’s reputation, it seems that the “New” Andy Griffith not only lost the election but he only received about 7.5 percent of the vote, finishing far behind!! As I recall, Sheriff Andy Taylor Never Lost an Election that he was in…and I don’t think he had to change his name or use “special” tactics either!!

Just one last thought on this subject before I wind it up! I wonder if the “New” Andy Griffith’s name had “Originally” been Andy Griffith if this law suit would have ever seen the light of day in court?

Well, that’s it for me today! I hope to see you back here tomorrow for some more…

Hi Everyone!

Ready for the week-end? I know I am, I thought I was going to have a total Bimbo, Mental Breakdown yesterday, I think it’s time for a little R. & R.!

Speaking of R. & R., I was reading the other day about this engaged couple from Missouri. They have decided to “get hitched” in a GRAVEYARD!!! of all places!!!

The article went on to say that even people that approve of this are “dead” set against this becoming a trend!

The reporter interviewed the City Clerk who had to approve or deny their nuptials taking place in the GRAVEYARD in a suburb of St. Louis in which the City Clerk was quoted as saying;

“When I spoke to them, they were just a normal young couple who wanted to have a wedding someplace they thought was nice and serene for a very small, intimate wedding”

Well it’s going to be serene alright; Everybody is Dead!!!! Who are you going to get as a witness? The guy beneath your feet? Hopefully they bring along a couple of live stiffs to be witnesses!!

Well I don’t know about you but doesn’t this look like a strange place to get “hitched”? Doesn’t it look like kind of a bad omen when you say “till death do us part”, in a GRAVEYARD? I would be afraid of upsetting the powers that be and drop dead right there on the spot! Wouldn’t be a very long marriage, in fact, if you dropped dead during the “till death do us part” part then you wouldn’t even be married!

I wonder who would be able to claim the body? Wouldn’t be your wife or husband because you don’t have one, I guess the next of kin, parents? The good part about that is you wouldn’t have to pay to move the body very far! I have traveled a Lot in my lifetime and I always say; “bury me where I lay”, don’t go to all of the expense of shipping me “back home” because I have traveled so much I don’t have a “home” for one thing and all of that expense for another! So, I guess if you die in a GRAVEYARD you wouldn’t have very expensive shipping costs! I suppose this could have it’s advantages!

And what if you don’t want to be buried in That GRAVEYARD? I can just see whoever it is that claims your body, oh it was only ok to get married in, he/she wouldn’t be caught “dead” buried here!!!! Could get a little sticky, if you know what I’m saying?

It also seems to me to be a bit disrespectful. This is a place where people are laid to rest, and rest is not what they get with all of the hoopla that comes with getting married, serene or not, a few people are still going to be walking all over the place and there is surely to be a few well wishers and congratulations, making all sorts of unnecessary noise! I say leave these people in Peace!

Nope! I can not condone this, in fact I’m “Dead” set Against this!

Well, that’s it for me this week! I hope to see you next week for some more unusual facts, stories and whatever else may come up!

Hi everybody!

I’m going to try to make this a little lighter reading today, after all, some of my readers are a little on the older side and the last couple of days have been a little taxing on the brain for them, you know who you are, so I’m going to try and make this REAL EASY for you today!

Speaking of getting older, in the recent past, at least I think it was recent, I’m having a little problem with my memory these days, a sure sign you are either getting older or the friends you keep are beginning to effect you, I tend to think it is the latter!!

Anyway, where was I?…Oh yes! In the past, (recent or otherwise), I have been feeling old, I mean REALLY OLD, and I suppose that it is not only my memory loss and short sidedness, thus rendering me almost helpless when it comes to putting my make-up on, but it is the “younger generation” that has started making me feel old.

I Never in my life thought that I would be referring to anyone but me when I said the words “younger generation”, but I have been forced to realize that I am no longer a part of that society!!! I have “moved on” so to speak, and about the only place for me to “move on” to from here is the old folks home or Belview, which ever has the first available space!

Why do I feel old you might ask. Well, recently, (?), I have been finding myself in conversations with various “younger generation” people and much as I do not know what in the world they are talking about they do not know what I am talking about either!!! It is like we are speaking a foreign language to each other!

Now, I know that you may argue, I am speaking a “foreign”, (non-English), language, given where I live, but I am not talking about “foreign” language in the literal sense, I am talking about “foreign” language in the not being on the same wave length sense. Not being on the same wave length is putting it mildly, try not being on the same planet!

I’ll give you an example. Recently, now I do know that this was recent, it was last Saturday, I looked it up on my Big Wall Calendar, much easier to see these days, when I had my un-expected visitors, my grown nephew was here, as part of the visitors, and we share a very special bond, we are always the ones, when we are in a room together with a lot of people, we gravitate to each other, you can always find us in the corner talking about something, well Saturday, he and I, his parents and a couple of others were discussing music. And his parents and I were talking about the “old” days and the recording artists that we loved so much, we had heard about Sting and his upcoming tour and that sparked off the rest of the conversation, when we started naming some of the greats of our time. Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Steppenwolf, (not quite sure of the spelling), Elton John, Eric Clapton and the list goes on, but I think you get the general time frame that I am talking about, IF You are old enough, if not you might as well stop reading this now because I’ve already lost you and I don’t have enough years left to explain it to you!

Where was I? Oh Yes! We were discussing these artists and groups and the “boy” had no idea who half of these people were!!! Never heard of some of them, he thought I had a cat named Stephen, and that somebody named James needed a tailor!! I was floored! Now my nephew, is not a baby or a child by any stretch of the imagination, he is a full grown man of over 7 feet tall!! (you should see us dancing together, my being 5′1 3/4″ tall and he over 7 foot makes us quite the unusual, for lack of a better word, couple, to say the least)! So he is a man, but has no idea who half of these people are, they were before his time, he barely knows who Elton John is!!!! And forget the Beatles!! They didn’t have music back in the dinosaur’s day, don’t you know!!

So obviously, when we started talking about L.P.’s and 45’s he certainly didn’t know what we were talking about, and if any of you don’t know, don’t worry about it, it’s over now!! Well, he had, in the past seen an L.P. because growing up in his parents house they did have a few old ones lying around, but never a 45, and get this, he thought I was making up a story when I mentioned a 78!!!!! But that is probably to old for most of you! In all honesty, I must admit, it is too old for me too, but, I have seen them, when I was a little girl, my parents had 3 or 4 old 78’s down in the basement, my Daddy would get one out, once in a while, of Fats Domino, (I know you young whipper snappers, don’t know who that is either!), and play it a couple of times before lovingly putting it back in it’s box down stairs!

Oh great! You also know you are getting old when you start using phrases like “young whipper snappers”!!!!

As our music history lesson went on Saturday, he didn’t remember the 8 track tape, of course, 8 track tape? he didn’t remember Any tapes, cassette, reel to reel the whole works! Just about the time I got up to the CD’s his memory started becoming clearer!!!

And the more clear his memory became, the less clear mine seemed to be!

So now, I can see, that I have to accept the fact that I am not a part of the “younger generation” any more, I’m not one of those “young whipper snappers” that my grandfather use to speak about, I have instead become part of another “generation”…

The Over the Hill Gang!!

For those of you that don’t remember who they are…Don’t worry about it!!!

Old Sometimers!!

Hi!

Made it to another day! I was on another blog yesterday, that had this interesting little bit of trivia! It’s just something that you really never needed to know and definitely could live without! But the reason that I put it here is because it means something VERY interesting to ME!

Did you know that: There are 299,968,595 people in the U.S.? I did not know that, I knew that there were a lot, but that many? Now, what makes it so very interesting to me, is that I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WITH MY NAME!!!!!

I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT LYING!!! I am NOT talking about my PEN NAME, (in case you didn’t know, Sage’s Unicorn! is not the name given to me at birth!), I am talking about my REAL NAME!!!! Can you believe that? I do not have a strange name! I am an American citizen and have a regular real American name but I am the ONLY PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES with my combination!!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? I was floored!

Now, for something else, really strange and something that REALLY put me over the edge, and I swear that this is the truth, my father & my husband are the only people in America with their names also!!!! No one in America has their first names! Now my father is as American as apple pie a la mode! And my husband, while not being an American, has a name that is used by many Americans except for 2 little letters in a different place! The I and E in his name, are what we Americans would consider backwards! Had it not been for that, then at least someone else would have had his name!

This makes me wonder!! Are we real? Were we born? or hatched? Are we a family of weirdo’s, aliens or maybe something else…unknown??? There’s definitely something strange in the State of Denmark I would say!!

Some more interesting statistics, to me, of course, are 122,987 people in the U.S. have my first name, I thought my name was quite normal but not according to this, that is not very many, considering how many people there are! My first name is the 459th most popular first name, tied with 3 others, and 99.9% of the people that have my first name are female! I would certainly like to meet any male that had my first name, because it is really quite a feminine name!

As for my last name, 1,110 people in the U.S. have the same name, it is the 24,960th most popular name, tied with 914 others, and one famous person that has my last name is a man named Rob, he is suppose to be famous, but I can honestly say, I have never heard of him!

I know a lot of you find things like this boring and to tell you the truth, I probably would too except I am what some might call, a rarity, (nice name for weirdo, alien or maybe something else…unknown), in America! Can you believe that?

Now, what do you think of the “Crazy Red Head”??

I have put my results here, why don’t you click on the button that says “how many have your name, and type your name in and see what interesting facts you can come up about yourselves? Go on, it’s fun and it only takes a couple of seconds!

Anyone can always leave a comment to me, anytime, but make SURE if you are one of those weirdo’s, aliens or maybe something else…unknown, like me, you comment, maybe there is some sort of club, or discount or something else for people?? like us!
