Did you hear…
about the Oklahoma woman who traveled to Louisiana to join the Ku Klux Klan and was shot to death by the leader of the group’s Bogalusa chapter Sunday after she tried to back out of initiation rites at a remote, sandbar camp in northeastern St. Tammany Parish?
It seems as though this woman had heard about this group called the Sons of Dixie and applied to join over the Internet so that she could recruit others in Oklahoma, she even requested that the organization waive its typical membership fee.
The woman traveled to Louisiana by bus on Friday to begin her initiation into the group, and after several rites, including a head-shaving, she was taken to a camp on a sandbar, accessible only by boat. The initiation continued at the campsite, with rituals that consisted mainly of lighting torches and “running around in the woods. Then on Sunday night she decided she wanted to leave the camp which in turn sparked an argument with the groups leader that soon turned violent. The leader then pushed the woman down and, as the argument continued, he shot her with a .40-caliber handgun. He then immediately moved to cover up the crime. He quickly flipped the woman’s body over and tried to dig out the bullet with a knife before ordering his followers to destroy evidence.
I don’t know about you but if it were me and I was about to do the same thing as the woman from Oklahoma I think I would begin to re-evaluate my choices about the people that I want to associate with!
What floors me even more about this story is some of the statements made by law enforcement.
St. Tammany Sheriff Jack Strain said that he couldn’t “imagine anyone feeling endangered or at risk from these kooks”, and that his Sheriff’s Office would not allow it. He then went on to say “we’re not going to tolerate this in St. Tammany”.
NOT FEEL ENDANGERED OR AT RISK FROM THESE “KOOKS”????
The man Shot and Killed the woman with a .40 caliber handgun in cold blood!!!! And tried to cover it up!! What do you mean can’t imagine anyone feeling endangered or at risk??
Another Sheriff Office Chief, Shannon Lyons, from Washington Parish stated, “I just think they’re wannabes, simple-minded people”.
Well, wannabes, simple-minded or whatever other types of people they are, they are Still Very Dangerous people if you ask me!
